Do You Want To Verify Your Test Results?

A positive pregnancy test is an indication you might be pregnant. To verify your pregnancy, you need an ultrasound. We offer referrals for free, confidential ultrasounds.

What Is An Ultrasound?

An ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to show what’s inside the uterus. A medical professional applies gel to your abdomen then passes a wand (called a transducer) through the gel. The transducer picks up the echoes of the sound waves and creates images on a computer monitor.

Why Do I Need An Ultrasound?

An ultrasound can tell you three things:

  1. It can tell you if you have a growing pregnancy with a heartbeat. If there is no heartbeat, you may have miscarried or it is too early in your pregnancy. The Mayo Clinic states that up to 20% of known pregnancies naturally end in miscarriage. Only an ultrasound can show if your pregnancy is viable (growing) or if you’ve miscarried.
  2. It can reveal the location of your pregnancy. Some women experience an ectopic pregnancy that develops outside the uterus, usually within the Fallopian tubes. This is a life-threatening situation that requires immediate medical attention.
  3. It establishes how far along you are in your pregnancy. This is called the “gestational age.”
